Landlord's bizarre graffiti protest

A landlord has scrawled graffiti across his own properties in a protest at the state of his community.

Slogans have been daubed across dozens of houses in Castletown, questioning the lack of regeneration and the prices offered for the properties by Sunderland City Council.

Graffiti including "Public inquiry please", "No more bull" and "Answers please" has appeared on rented houses.

Philip Cockburn, 44, the landlord of 22 houses in the three streets, said: "There are supposed to be these regeneration plans and we feel like we're being ignored. This is a means of voicing that."
