30-inch samurai sword used in Oxycontin heist attempt

A 19-year-old is in custody, accused of robbing the pharmacy in the Glendale Walgreens with a 30-inch samurai sword onTuesday night.

Dylan Suomi walked through the store with the sword and straight to the pharmacy without being noticed, said Victor Ross, Chief of Glendale Police.

Suomi jumped the pharmacy counter, threatened the pharmacy employees with the samurai sword as he demanded they hand over Oxycontin. "He ran out to the alley behind the Walgreens and began ingesting the pills," said Ross.

Suomi is currently being held at the Arapahoe County Justice Center on $50,000 bond.
