Dog wardens round up ‘on-the-loose’ llamas

Dog wardens in Wakefield tackled a different kind of four-legged friend when they rounded up two llamas that had gone on the run on Tuesday

Wakefield Council Dog Wardens Mark Douglas and Mali Tomlinson were alerted to the two exotic creatures on the highway near South Hiendley Common.

They managed to keep the escaped llamas contained on a local playground before tracking down the owner. Glynn Humphries, service director for cleaner and greener said: “This is a rather unusual situation for dog wardens.

“We managed to track down the owners and the animals are safe and well. It just goes to show that the crucial service provided by our dog wardens can benefit not just the usual four legged friends.”
