Police officer had unfortunate altercation with spherical piece of street furniture during 999 call

This police van was left perched on top of a piece of spherical ‘street furniture’ below The Tower on Blackpool's promenade during a 999 call on Wednesday.

Gaz Eyres, who captured the incident on his phone said: “I flashed him to go and he was going too fast for the corner. Obviously no fatalities, just a light hearted look into the boys and girls in blue who are apparently trained in advanced driving.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “The officer concerned was responding to an emergency response call when the collision occurred. There was no member of the public involved and the officer was uninjured.

“There is currently an ongoing internal investigation in relation to the matter as is standard procedure when a police officer is involved in a road traffic collision while on duty.”
