Woman arrested after repeatedly calling 911 while sitting in shopping cart

A Florida woman was arrested after she called 911 multiple times from a shopping cart, saying she was being harassed by an employee who just wanted his cart back, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Catherine Dajnowski, 40, dialed 911 while sitting in a shopping cart just before 11pm on Dec. 13 in the parking lot of the West Boca Publix, according to an arrest report. Dajnowski told the dispatcher a man was trying to take her cart. Deputies talked to a male Publix employee, who said he asked Dajnowski multiple times for the cart back.

A deputy told Dajnowski to give the cart back because it was Publix property, but when the deputy left, she dialed 911 again. Deputies returned and told Dajnowski to stop calling 911 because she was misusing the emergency line, but Dajnowski dialed 911 a third time while a deputy was standing with her.

Dajnowski was charged with misusing an emergency line. She was scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 16, but did not show up. She was arrested on Thursday on an additional failure to appear charge, and is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $2,250 bail.

If that's not a cry for help, I don't know what is. But of course, she got no mental health evaluation, just an arrest.
