Couple arrested after 2-year-old boy they were caring for roamed neighbourhood with an axe
Sheriff's deputies arrested an Arkansas couple after a 2-year-old boy they were caring for was found walking in the rain carrying an axe.
Mary Katherine Dehli, 32, and James Edward Filchack, 40, of Oxford are charged with second degree child endangerment.

Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence says the two were arrested after a neighbour called to report a small boy was "roaming the neighbourhood carrying an axe."
The child was under the couple's supervision at the time he was spotted "wandering the area" in the rain, Lawrence said. Dehli and Filchack appeared before District Judge David E. Miller who set a court date for the pair and they were released from the Izard County Detention Facility.

Dog that had pipe on head captured after being seen running around with a steak in his mouth
A dog in Oconee County, South Carolina, that freed himself from a piece of metal ductwork that was stuck on his head has been captured.
"Piper" is a dog that was seen roaming the area for a week, unable to get water easily or eat because of the pipe stuck on his head.
Volunteers with Upstate Animal Rescue Foundation, local veterinarians and animal control officers had worked for days to set traps to catch Piper, who was afraid of people and would run off into the woods when anyone would get within dozens of yards of him. Rescuers said they could not get close enough to Piper to shoot him with a tranquilizer gun without him running off.
Neighbours said they could see Piper on Monday morning running around with a steak in his mouth. Oconee County Animal Control officers went out and confirmed Piper was seen without the pipe on his head. Piper was captured on Monday at around 8:15pm and animal control say he is in good health but very tired.
A spokesperson for animal control said they will neuter him, get him updated with shots and other care. They said they are grateful for the overwhelming response of people wanting to help, but they said Piper is only familiar with a few people in the area and it made it difficult to catch him. One local resident has developed a rapport with Piper and that is believed what aided in his capture. The man now hopes to adopt Piper. It is not known how the pipe was removed from Piper's head.

New Chinese road has huge pylon in the middle
In an unusual town planning mix-up, a new road in Henan Province, China now has an enormous electricity pylon standing right in the middle of it.
The road developer planned the route without realising it ran right through the transmission tower, which has been in place since 2007.
It's unclear why when they did notice the obstacle they chose not to divert the road.
The power company and the road developers are currently in talks to resolve the issue.

Cat dragged home bag of cannabis
A drug trafficking cat has police in the Halfway Bush suburb of Dunedin in New Zealand baffled after it hauled home a five-gram bag of cannabis.
Sergeant Reece Munro, of Dunedin, said police received a call from a woman at about 6pm on Sunday, concerned her cat had left ''a bag of drugs'' on her front doorstep. ''It was approximately 5g of cannabis, which has a street value of between $100 and $150.''

The cat's owner was very pleased to have the evidence removed and Sgt Munro declined to identify the cat or its owner. ''You hear of cats bringing dead birds and rats home but certainly in my career I've never seen anything like this before. I guess you never really know who's keeping you honest these days, do you?''
Sgt Munro said the origins of the the cannabis remained a mystery. ''We will continue our investigation and look at having the plastic bag fingerprinted.'' He said there was perhaps potential to add feline cunning to the police armoury. ''We certainly have police dogs trained to detect drugs - this might be something police could explore in the future.''

Police shocked after parents took sandwiches to children at illegal rave
When police attended an illegal gathering at Wickham Cross, near Butleigh, Somerset, earlier this month they were shocked to discover parents delivering sandwiches for their children.
Police were called out to the site in the early hours and on arrival they found cars parked in a nearby car park.
They secured the area, stopping people from leaving the rave and then re-entering. They then discovered parents dropping off food for their children who had contacted them, hungry but not wanting to leave.
Police want to remind mums and dads of the dangers of these illegal and unregistered events. Two people were arrested at the scene for drug related offences, which the authorities are continuing to investigate.
